Viola A. Yarnell

Viola A. Yarnell, age 46, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born December 16, 1964, in Boonville, the daughter of Gerald and Ilene Sims Yarnell. Viola worked at Sherwin-Williams as a marketing representative. She graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in 1987. There, she was a member of the Ad Team, and the Delta Sigma Pi Professional Fraternity. In 1985, the fraternity awarded her the "Best Big Brother" award for her outstanding involvement in aiding a future brother. She was also a lifetime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and attended the Glensted United Methodist Church. Viola enjoyed going fishing with her dad, and making crafts, especially crocheting and string art. She is survived by her father and step-mother, Gerald and Dorothy Yarnell of Versailles; her brother, Harvey Yarnell and wife Crystal of Versailles; her sister, Rita Simmons and husband Carl of Holts Summit; four nieces and nephews; three great-nieces and nephews; her aunt and uncle, Arleen and Ed Lake of Versailles; her aunt, Vivian Akin of Akinsville; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ilene Yarnell. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Barry Fielder officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Glensted United Methodist Church or Preferred Hospice of Columbia, Mo. Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com.
