Margaret Mary Prenger, 89, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011, at J.C. Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born August 10, 1921, in Folk, a daughter of the late Frank H. and Mary Boeckmann Haselhorst. Margaret attended Folk School and was a 1942 graduate of Chicago School of Nursing. On November 23, 1955, Margaret was united in marriage at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Jefferson City, to Oscar A. "Bud" Prenger, who preceded her in death on June 3, 1986. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; St. Ann's Sodality, Immaculata Club and also served as a 4-H leader. Margaret worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital before becoming a homemaker. Being a nurse she was a very caring person, always putting others before herself. She was very proud of her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she enjoyed watching. She enjoyed praying the rosary, watching Cardinal baseball games, and playing cards. Margaret is survived by one son: Loran E. Prenger (wife Karen Sue) of Jefferson City; two grandchildren: Paige E. Prenger and Kyle J. Prenger; one sister: Loreen Volmert of Folk; three sisters-in-law: Agatha Haselhorst of Taos, Marilyn Haselhorst and Mardelle Prenger, both of Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Anton "Tony" Haselhorst and Gus Haselhorst; three sisters: Mathilda Wilbers, Clara Schmidt and Emma Carter; and five brothers-in-law. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with a prayer service to be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Msgr. David Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and I.C. School.
