Mildred G. "Midge" Cain Lawson, 89, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010. She was born April 28, 1921, the daughter of James F. and Ida Mae (Koffkey) Cain. She married James Ford Lawson on May 19, 1940. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1983. Mildred attended New Bloomfield High School, graduating in 1939. She worked at Oberman and retired from the Missouri National Guard. She loved her cows, dancing, picking up sticks and collecting rocks. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she was a member of WMU Circle for more than 50 years. Mildred is survived by two sons, Steve Lawson and wife Elizabeth of Holts Summit and Mike Lawson and Carla Nichols of Columbia; one daughter, Judy Laucks and husband Larry of Holts Summit; one brother, Curtis Cain and wife JoAnn of Ashland; three sisters, Nellie Nichols of Butler, Marjorie Issak of Jefferson City, and Geneva Pearre and husband Charles of Jefferson City; two sisters-in-law, Ada Cain of Centertown and Sara Cain of Jefferson City; seven grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Floyd E. and James W. (Buss) Cain. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 1, 2010, at Hopewell Baptist Church in New Bloomfield with Reverend Rick Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The family requests no flowers.
