Mrs. Betty Jo Zuver, age 82 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, October 28, 2010, at the Heisinger Bluffs Retirement Center. She was born August 26, 1928, in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Montie C. and Trellis Major Willcoxon. Betty was united in marriage on April 11, 1975, at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City to Kenneth L. Zuver. As a young girl, Betty lived in Iowa and attended public school there. Her family then moved to Henley, Mo. where she attended Spring Valley School for four years and Eugene High School for grades nine and 10. She graduated from Jefferson City High School in May, 1946. Betty was employed for four years with the Tweedie Shoe Co. and for 37 years with the Missouri Department of Education where among other duties, she worked in the School Food Services Section and later in the Division of Instruction where she retired in 1987 at an executive secretary. From 1962 until 1963, she was Vice President of the Missouri Association of Educational Secretaries. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading and cross stitching and family gatherings and loved spending time with nieces and nephews. She and her husband were avid RVers and traveled extensively in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City and the Irwin Sunday School Class and during her early life had taught Sunday School to church youth. During 2002, Betty was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease. However, she continued to enjoy life but the disease progressed and by 2006, it was necessary for her to take residency in the Heisinger Bluffs Care facility. The family appreciates the care that Betty received during her stay there. Survivors include: her husband, Kenneth L. Zuver; three sisters, Helen Heidbreder and her husband James of Holts Summit, Mo., Rosemary Loethen of Lady Lake, Fla., Dorothy M. Chrisope and her husband Carl of Marietta, Ga.; two brothers, Donald D. Willcoxon and his wife Germaine of Jefferson City, Mo. and Montie Willcoxon Jr. of Palm Springs, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Mary Sapp of Jefferson City, Mo.; 15 nieces and nephews, 34 great-nieces and nephews, three great- -great-nephews and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Leon Sapp; one brother-in-law, Jerry Loethen; one great- niece; and one great-nephew. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 31, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 1, 2010, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, the Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders Association, or the Heisinger Bluffs Care Facility.
