Joseph Leslie (Veteran)

Joseph Houghton Leslie, 65, of Holts Summit, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on December 3, 1944, in Jefferson City, a son of Paul S. and Edith Ayers Leslie. He was united in marriage on April 24, 1971, to Elaine Renterghem, who survives at the home. Joseph was a 1962 graduate of Jefferson City High School and attended Lincoln University. He served in the United States Army. He was a supervisor for Missouri Department of Agriculture-Pesticide Bureau. After his retirement, he was a substitute teacher at Jefferson City Public Schools and a groundskeeper at Oak Hills Golf Course. Joseph was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church. He enjoyed boating at the Lake of the Ozarks, gardening, history and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is also survived by two sons: Daniel Scott Leslie (Dana) of Holts Summit, and Jason Patrick Leslie (Jennifer) of Holts Summit; two brothers: Paul Leslie (Mary Lou) of Overland Park and Stanley Leslie (Fran) of Brigham City, Utah; five grandchildren: Jessica Goff, Danielle Mengwasser, Robert Mengwasser Mason Green, and Cole Leslie. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 25, 2010, at St. Andrews Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Andrews Catholic Church with Msgr. Gregory Higley, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Andrews Catholic Church Cemetery.
