Gerald Wayne "Hamp" Hampton, 69, of Jamestown, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at his residence. He was born June 23, 1941, on the family farm near Jamestown, the son of Elvin and Erma Seitz Hampton, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Bethel Country school. "Hamp" was a truck driver for Potter's trucking in Boonville for many years. He also was a farmer. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He is survived by one son, Terry Wayne Hampton and wife Heather of the state of New Mexico; four sisters, Betty Gilmore and Shirley Tripp both of Jefferson City, Mo., Norma Imhoff and husband Paul of Lake Ozark, Mo., and Wanda Roark and husband Dickie of Jefferson City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Terry Wayne Hampton Jr. and Nichole Hampton; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Hampton and two brothers-in-law, Karl Gilmore and Paul Tripp. Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California. Officiating will be the Rev. Chester Marshall. Inurnment will be at the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Jamestown. Visitation will be Friday, October 22, 2010, from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
