Norman Fischer (Veteran)

Norman W.O. Fischer, 90, of Holts Summit, died Saturday, October 16, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born December 12, 1919, in Lohman, a son of Julius and Augusta Kautsch Fischer. He attended St. John's Lutheran School at Stringtown. On August 27, 1941, Norman was united in marriage to Louise Runge, who preceded him in death in 1989. On July 12, 1996, he was united in marriage in Holts Summit to Clara Holterman Boessen, who survives at their home. Norman was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II and the Korean War. He was a lifelong farmer and owned his own farm. Norman was also a tractor mechanic, chainsaw mechanic and small engine mechanic and co-owner of a Ford tractor dealership. Norman was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Stringtown, was a member of V.F.W. Post 1003 and was active in the Lutheran Men's Clubs at St. John's and Trinity Lutheran Churches. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and was an avid gardener. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family. He is also survived by three children: Noel Fischer and wife Betty of Jefferson City, Joy Alberts and husband Roger of Holts Summit, Miriam Egley and husband Darryl of Spring, Texas; five stepchildren: Judy Schneider and husband Gene of Jefferson City, and Roy Boessen and wife Sandy, JoAnn Stock and husband Terry, David Boessen and wife Arlene, and Geri Berhorst all of Holts Summit; one sister, Alberta Fischer of Jefferson City; one sister-in-law, Sharon Fischer of Russellville; 18 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren.- Norman was preceded in death by one son, Mark Fischer, and three siblings, Celeste Fischer, Donnabelle Loesch and Mahlon Fischer. Friends will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at the St. John's Lutheran Church at Stringtown, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Warren Brandt officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in the St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
