Billie Payne (Veteran)

Billie Paul Payne, age 76, of Fulton, passed away Friday, October 15, 2010, in his home. He was born in Kansas City, in 1934, the son of Lloyd Layton and Stella Bea Vineyard Payne. Billie married his high school sweetheart, Delores, on January 22, 1955. She survives of the home. He was an avid outdoorsman, with a love of nature thatís second to none. He consistently demonstrated that he was ìproud to be an Americanî. He was in his glory while sitting in his bass boat, trolling somewhere on Lake Ozark, while exchanging stories with his fishing buddies, Ray Garrett Jr., Charles ìChuckî Bauer and Bob Chiles. Billie served his country in the United States Army. He served on the Callaway County Sherriffís Patrol as Deputy Sheriff for over 20 years. He was an electrician at Central Electric for 27 years, retiring in 1997. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and he was one of the founding members of the Owl Creek Sportsmenís Club (1966) nestled in the woods just outside Millersburg. He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Renee Payne and Paula Sue Payne, both of Fulton; one son, Terry Paul Payne of Foster City, Calif.; one sister, Martha Lee Bolton and husband, Dennis ìJackî of Fulton; one brother, Chester Lloyd Payne of Fulton; one granddaughter, Stephanie Delores Hayes of Fulton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cherie Denise Payne, and one son, Darren Lloyd Payne. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Tuesday, October 19, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton, with Pastor Mike Crowson officiating. Burial will follow in Callaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
