Mr. James M. Hidlebaugh, age 83 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center. Jim was born June 20, 1927, in Cedar City, Mo., the son of Lloyd E. and Margaret C. Maus Hidlebaugh. He was married on May 12, 1956, in Columbia, Mo., to Margaret A. "Pat" Kimler. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Jim was a 1945 graduate of St. Peter High School. Jim served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed with the state of Missouri for 41 years with the Missouri Highway Dept., the Missouri Treasurer's Office, and the Office of Administration until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of St. Peter Church; the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2693; the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003; and the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5. Jim enjoyed dancing, traveling, Jefferson City Jay Football, and the University of Missouri Football. Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Margaret "Pat" Hidlebaugh; one brother, Ernest G. Hidlebaugh of Jefferson City, Mo.; five nephews and nieces, George Anthony Hidlebaugh, William Gene Hidlebaugh, Frank Kimler Neutzler, Karen Ann Meinz, and Karla Jean Rhea; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 16, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Francis Doyle officiating. Graveside services and entombment with military honors will be conducted at the mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Samaritan Center or the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
