Virginia Mae Prenger, 79, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, October 10, 2010, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born on April 26, 1931, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Alvin John and Alvina Edna Hopen Rackers. She was united in marriage on June 5, 1954, in Taos, to Leo Francis Prenger, who preceded her in death on August 21, 2007. A homemaker, Virginia served as the Macon County Clerk Deputy for many years and worked at her family business, A.J. Rackers Heating and Cooling. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Cursillo Movement, Business and Professional Women's Association in Macon, and the Altar Society in Macon. Virginia enjoyed sewing, quilting, and traveling Survivors include: eight children, Timothy Prenger, Texas, Beatrice "Tress" Prenger, Jefferson City, Kenneth (Myrna) Prenger, St. Charles, Jacqueline "Jackie" (William) Stone, Jefferson City, Melanie (David) Runion, Bentonville, Ark., Matthew Prenger, Callao, Mo., Karen (Kevin) Welty, Washington, Ill., and Stephanie Prenger, Frankford, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and eight siblings, David (Ann) Rackers, Taos, Ruth Wolken, Jefferson City, Paul (Geneva) Rackers, Jefferson City, Allen Rackers, Maryland, Mary (Herb) Haaf, Taos, Charles (Carol) Rackers, California, Mo., Nicolas (Rose) Rackers, Taos, and Ann (Bill) McClain, Imperial, Mo. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Thursday, October 14, 2010, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville, with the Rev. Gregory C. Meystrik officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Taos. Visitation will be 4:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Vitae Caring Foundation, 1731 Southridge Dr., Jefferson City, MO 65109; St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 6418 Rt.
