Bernard Henke (Veteran)

Bernard Joseph Henke, 90, of Marshall, Mo., died Sunday, October 3, 2010, in Marshall. Born July 21, 1920, in Taos, he was the son of the late Frank and Lidvina Rackers Henke. Bernard was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. On May 28, 1940, he married Ruth Evelyn Jarvis who preceded him in death on October 8, 1983. He lived in Marshall most of his life and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He was retired from Home Lumber Company, also working for LaCrosse Lumber and Marshall Municipal Airport. Survivors include: two sons, Larry Henke of Houstonia, Mo. and Ron (Cynthia) Henke of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-great grandson; one brother, Fred Henke of Taos, Mo.; two sisters, Alice Lammers of Jefferson City and Alberta Ratliff of Columbia and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Lammers and Evelyn Higgins. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010, with Deacon Richard Luebbering officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall.
