Duane J. Buschjost, 46, of Wardsville, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a 16 month battle with cancer. He was born August 14, 1964, in Jefferson City, a son of Leonard B. and Julie Reinkemeyer Buschjost. On April 16, 1988, Duane was united in marriage to Vicky Oliver, who survives at the home. Duane was a 1982 graduate of Helias High School. He was a lifetime farmer and was devoted to being the third generation owner and operator of the Buschjost Family Dairy Farm. He was also a lifelong member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. He was the Past President of the St. Stanislaus Parish Council, former Board member of the Osage Fire Protection District and MFA-Cedar City Board of Directors. He was a member of the Dairy Farmers of America Resolutions Committee, Wardsville Knights of Columbus and Wardsville Lions Club. After his diagnosis he worked at MFA in Meta for a short time. He enjoyed spending time with and watching his children's sporting events. In addition to his wife Vicky, he is survived by his three children: Emily Buschjost and her fiancÈ Jeremy Rowland, Sarah Buschjost and Dalton Buschjost, all of Wardsville; his mother: Julie Buschjost of Wardsville; his four brothers: Dale Buschjost and his wife Karen, Mark Buschjost and his wife Jackie, Brad Buschjost and his wife Carla, and Jason Buschjost and his wife Wendy, all of Wardsville; his mother-in-law: Mable Oliver of Jefferson City; two sisters-in-law: Sharon Garzend Burnett and husband Gary of Jefferson City, and Becky Peters of Eldorado, Kan.; and one brother-in-law: Randy Oliver and wife Darlene of California; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father: Leonard B. Buschjost; paternal grandparents: Joseph and Cecilia Buschjost; his maternal grandparents: Lawrence and Anna Reinkemeyer; and one nephew: Baby Leonard Buschjost. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Father Gregory C. Meystrik and Father Brendan Doyle officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Duane Buschjost Children's Educational Fund, St. Stanislaus School, or the Helias Foundation.
