Betty Jean Jaynes

Betty Jean (Parks) Jaynes, 75, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 2, 2010, at her home. She was a loving wife and mother. Her rest comes following several months of declining health. She was born September 14, 1935, in Xenia, Ohio, to Dora (Davis) Parks and Herbert E. "Ed" Parks and was the second of their four children. On December 10, 1955, Betty married Carl Jaynes, also of Xenia, and they made their home and raised their family until Carl's employment took them to Jefferson City, Missouri, in 1980. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson City and former member of the Union United Methodist Church of Xenia. Her kind and giving spirit led her to volunteer service in various church programs over the years. Betty thoroughly enjoyed her family and friends and her life's happiness was bringing joy to others whether by giving a special gift, sending a thoughtful note or "whipping up a batch" of her famous peanut butter fudge. Her tender heart and caring nature made her much beloved and truly missed. Betty is survived by Carl, her devoted husband of nearly 55 years, and their three children: Carla Bethke (Ralph) of Arvada, Colorado; Cheri Twehous (Mike Martin) of Jefferson City; and Chris Jaynes of Vancouver, Washington; two grandchildren: Katelyn and Kirk Twehous, both of Jefferson City; a sister: Joyce Russell (Hollis) of Batesville, Mississippi; one brother: Neil Parks (Sandy) of Hillsboro, Ohio. Many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends also mourn her loss. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Eddie Lee Parks Sr. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Union United Methodist Church, 393 Washington Road, Xenia, Ohio. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sandy Santos officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens, Beavercreek, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hospice Compassus, 600 Monroe Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101; or the Union United Methodist Church, 393 Washington Road, Xenia, Ohio 45385. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109. (573) 636-3838.
