Raymond George Scheperle, 86, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, September 30, 2010, at his home. He was born January 21, 1924, near Brazito, Mo., the son of Adam Edward and Pauline Opel Scheperle. He attended the Pleasant Hill and St. John's (Stringtown) Lutheran schools. Raymond served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946, serving on the USS New Jersey in the South Pacific. On April 21, 1946, Raymond was united in marriage at St. John's Lutheran Church, at Stringtown to Wilma Kautsch, who survives at their home. He was a Ferguson tractor and farm equipment dealer, salesman, real estate broker and farmer. Raymond was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, attending St. John's Lutheran Church at Stringtown, Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City and St. John's Lutheran Church at Schubert. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lutheran Laymen's League. Raymond enjoyed bowling in the Industrial League for many years, gardening, hunting and fishing. Other survivors include: two daughters, Judith Kollmeyer and husband Marcus of Jefferson City, Mo., Yvonne Scheperle-Bronner of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two sons, Rev. Gerald Scheperle and wife Paula of Jefferson City, Mo., Dr. Mark Scheperle of Clayton, Mo.; one sister, Ola Liescheidt of Jefferson City, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Amy Kollmeyer, Sara Nosovitch and husband Mace, Joseph Kollmeyer and wife Tasha, Caleb Kollmeyer, Jason Scheperle-Kautsch-Bronner, Elizabeth Scheperle, Rachel Scheperle, Christina Scheperle; and six great-grandchildren, Logan Nosovitch, Aidan Nosovitch, Jonah Nosovitch, Julia Kollmeyer, Cody Kollmeyer and Hannah Kollmeyer. Friends will be received from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 3, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 4, 2010, at the St. John's Lutheran Church at Stringtown, where funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Peter Kurowski and Rev. Warren Brandt officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in the St. John's (Stringtown) Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. John's (Stringtown) Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, Lutheran Laymen's League, or a charity of the donor's choice.
