Nancy Ann Simmons, 70, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born December 2, 1939, in Pine Bluff, Ark., the daughter of the late Met Freeman and Lynnaie Mae (Peek) Matlock. On April 4, 1968, she was united in marriage in Pine Bluff, Ark., to Van Simmons, who survives at their home. Nancy attended Henderson State in Arkansas, the University of Arkansas, Lindenwood University, and the University of Mexico in Mexico City. She graduated from Memphis State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Spanish, and a minor in Music. She taught music, Spanish and English in Pine Bluff, Ark. at Watson Chapel and Jefferson Prep. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of American Revolution, and the Huguenot Society of Arkansas. Nancy loved to play the piano and traveling. Along with her husband Van, she is also survived by a son: Randy Simmons (wife Wendy) of Owasso, Okla.; and one granddaughter: Sabrina April Simmons of Owasso, Okla. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 3, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with The Rev.
