Margaret Ellen Alley

Margaret Ellen Alley, 88, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, November 25, 2010, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. She was born October 15, 1922, in Carter County, Missouri, the daughter of Ervin A. and Maude M. (Greene) Barnes. She attended the Low Wassie School in Shannon County and was a 1940 graduate of Winona High School in Winona, Missouri. On January 9, 1941, Margaret was united in marriage in Winona to Austin Malloy Alley, who preceded her in death on December 12, 1995. Margaret was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fremont, attended Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City, and was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by five sons: James A. Alley and wife Patricia of St. Louis, Ray A. Alley and wife DeAnn of Jefferson City, Jerry D. (Doug) Alley and wife Sally of Norman, Oklahoma, Bill D. Alley and wife Willene of Jefferson City, John D. Alley and wife Janis of Taos; one daughter, Coraleta M. Pratt and husband Mark of Friedheim, Missouri; one brother, Lloyd E. Barnes of Livingston, Illinois; 17 grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. Friends will be received from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Benjamin Alley officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Concord Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
