Helen P. Taggart, 94, Centertown, passed away Monday, November 22, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. She was born October 18, 1916, in Corning, the daughter of John Owen Swan and Jesse Lucille Thieman, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married May 9, 1936, in Mound City, to Clem Taggart, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Corning High School and attended College at Peru State College in Peru, Neb. She was a homemaker. Helen was also member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Jefferson City. She was the secretary and board member of New Hope Cemetery for 35 years. Her hobbies were working crossword puzzles, crocheting and loved to travel. She also worked as a volunteer for OATS and was the secretary and treasurer for many years. She was a member of Victoria Chapter #14 OES were she received her 50-year membership pin. She is survived by one son, Gary Taggart and wife Geraldine of Centertown; two grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery near Marion. Officiating will be the Rev. Shane Crum. There will be an Eastern Star Service on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 12:15 p.m. Visitation will be Saturday, November 27, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. -12:15 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to New Hope Cemetery or Emmanuel Baptist Church, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak St., California, MO 65018. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
