Mary Lou Coy, 83, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at her home. She was born March 7, 1927, in Jefferson City, a daughter of the late Lawrence F. and Edith (Bebber) Kauffman. On December 5, 1974, Mary Lou was united in marriage in Miami, Okla., to Perry E. Coy, who survives at their home. Mary Lou worked as Secretary for United Telephone and also with her husband at Perry Coy Fire & Safety Equipment Company. Prior to that, she worked for the Jefferson City Police Department. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. Mary Lou loved to play golf, and was Secretary for the 50+ Golf Association for many years. She also ran golf tournaments for many years at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club. She loved being a part of and helping the community. Along with her husband Perry, Mary Lou is also survived by two sons, Larry Edward Holmes of Versailles, Charles Thomas Holmes of Jefferson City; two step-sons, Dennis Coy of Jefferson City, David Coy of Licking; a step-daughter, Eden Beth Davis of Bloomington, Ill.; a half-sister, Doris Tetrick of Kaiser, W. Va.; and a grandson, Lawrence Holmes of Lansing, Kan. She was also preceded in death by a half-sister, Bergie Kauffman. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 22, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m., with Chaplain Bruce Gardner and Rev. Don Carter officiating. A private family interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jefferson City High School Golf Team or the Helias High School Golf Team.
