Ronnie Harmon, 62, of Ashland, died Sunday, November 14, 2010, at the home. Ronnie was the strongest, kindest, most caring man in the world. Ronnie Gale Harmon was born September 22, 1948, at Boone Hospital, Columbia, to Lesselby Lewis "Bud" Harmon and Nelda Ellen Nichols Harmon. He was a lifetime resident of Ashland, graduating from Ashland High School in 1966. Upon graduation, he joined the Sheet Metal Workers Local #36 where he was a member for 44 years. He enlisted in the Army, serving for two years, June 1967 to June 1969. He was married to Linda Sue Russell on February 20, 1970, in Miami, Okla., who survives at the home. He retired from Harold G. Butzer Inc., Jefferson City, on October 31, 2010, after 36 years of employment. He was a proud member of the community, a member of the Ashland Optimist, a member of the Southern Boone County School Board for eight years and a member of New Salem Baptist Church. Ronnie was an avid outdoorsman. You were more likely to find him in the yard, than in the house. He was a selfless man always having time for a friend in need. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have known and loved him. He is also survived by one daughter, Tracey Rae Harmon of Columbia; one son, Kristopher Gale Harmon and wife Laura of Hartsburg; two beloved granddaughters, Bayle Nicole and Tate McKinley Harmon; his mother, Nelda Nichols Harmon of Ashland; three brothers, Jimmy Harmon and wife Cindy of Conway, Ark., Lawrence Harmon and wife Debbie of Englewood, Curtis Harmon and wife Desiree of Ashland; one sister, Susan Aitkens and husband Danny of Hartsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland, with visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for a memorial to be given to Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, P.O. Box 16, Ashland, MO 65010, in care of the family.
