Vincel Barbour

Vincel Barbour, 89, of California, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010, at Tipton Oak Manor. He was born August 11, 1921, at Latham, the son of Charles and Ada (Blankenship) Barbour, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Latham High School, and served in the United States Air Force from 1941 to 1945 in England during World War II. After returning home from the war, he worked at General Motors in Kansas City, retiring after 30 years of service there. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church in Kansas City, and was baptized there on June 2, 1963. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herschel and Howard Barbour; and three sisters, Alice Wisdom, Claudia Hall, and Jane Alpers. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California. Burial with full military honors will be in Highland Cemetery near Latham. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Randall. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Highland Cemetery Fund, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
