Adrian (Big Abe) Eugene Parris, 71, of Kansas City, Kan., died Friday, November 5, 2010, at Providence Medical Center. Adrian was born May 6, 1939, in Jefferson City. He was the oldest son of Eugene T. and Marie (Adrian) Parris. Adrian was a police officer for 17 years and then worked as a plant supervisor at Kaw River Shredding Company for 18 years. He enjoyed a part time job after his retirement back at KCKPD with his close friends. He loved John Deere tractors, camping, raising cattle, and spending time with his family. He is survived by siblings Tommy, Jerry, Johnny, Jimmy, Shirley Gerling, Karen Gerling, and Debbie Crede. He is the husband of Pamela Sue (Williams) Parris. He is survived by eight children: Carolyn (Jim) McCarthy, Darryl (Kendra) Parris, Becky Tubbs, Mary (Sammy) Vavricek, Curtis (Andrea) Parris, Luke (Morgan) Parris, Adam Parris, Megan Parris, and 12 grandchildren: Katy, Emma, Jay Vavricek, Dustin, Johnny, Cole Tubbs, Caleb, Isabella Parris and Braxton Parris. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother, Robert Parris. Visitation will be held at Maple Hill Funeral Home, Tuesday November 9, 2010, from 5-8 p.m. There will be a prayer said at 6 p.m. Funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MOCSA, and sent in care to Maple Hill Funeral Home, 3300 Shawnee Dr. Kansas City, KS 66106.
