Mamie Elizabeth Huhmann Wansing, age 93, of Meta, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Westphalia Retirement Center. She was born in Meta on November 6, 1916, daughter of the late Ben and Annie (Meiburger) Scheulen. On October 9, 1934, in Meta, she married Ben H. Huhmann, who preceded her in death on April 29, 1979. On February 9, 1980, in Meta, Mamie married John W. Wansing, who preceded her in death on April 23, 2008. She worked for over 20 years and retired from Ottenheimer Garment Factory in Meta. She loved gardening, quilting, and was an expert seamstress. Mamie was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. She is survived by four sons, Charles Huhmann and wife Ellanora of Holts Summit, John Huhmann and wife Adina of Oregon, Donald Huhmann of Brazito, and Vernon Huhmann and wife Pamela of Meta; three daughters, Ella Groene of St. Louis, Betty Reinkemeyer and husband Fred of Brazito, and Dorothy Staus and husband Daniel of Sedalia; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence Scheulen, George Scheulen, and Joe Scheulen; two sisters, Katie Rehagen and Tillie Schaffer; and one son-in-law, Albert Groene. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 a.m. on Monday, November 8, 2010, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. Rev. Mark Porterfield will officiate. Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6 p.m., on Sunday, November 7, at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Cecilia Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
