Mrs. Helen Loraine Duenkel, age 89 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at the Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Helen was born on September 21, 1921, in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of William C. and Mildred F. Zumwalt Colvin. She was married on July 6, 1940, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Paul J. Duenkel, who preceded her in death on May 1, 1996. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Helen graduated from Jefferson City High School. She was employed with the Missouri Legislative Research Dept. for 20 years until her retirement was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Auxiliary of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5. She was a loving wife and mother who loved her pets and bowling. Helen had many trophies for her scores in bowling. Survivors include: two brothers, Robert L. Colvin and his wife Elsie, and Gerald A. Colvin and his wife Marie; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, and two sons, Robert J. Duenkel in March 2004 and Larry J. Duenkel in July 2004. Graveside services and entombment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the Mausoleum of Riverview Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Assn.
