Fern Sloan

Fern Sloan, age 87, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born March 2, 1923 in Henley, a daughter of Lit and Minnie Hodge Honaker, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church in Henley. Fern was united in marriage July 3, 1943 in Kansas City, to Bill Sloan, who survives of the home. Fern was a homemaker, but her greatest passion was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed. Survivors include: her husband Bill of the home; one son, William Sloan with his wife Carol of Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Sandra Hartman with her husband Larry of Topeka, Kan., and Rita Holtmeyerwith her husband Jerry of Jefferson City; one sister, Irene Russell of Henley; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by one brother, Chester Honaker; three sisters, Elsie Reed, Flossie Emmerich, and Pearl Emmerich. Visitation will be today, Wednesday, May 5, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Weber Funeral Home in Russellville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Weber Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Hoskins officiating. Burial will be in the Hickory Hill Cemetery.
