Mrs. Clara Howell

Mrs. Clara Ruth Howell, age 89 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, April 30, 2010, at the Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Ruth was born March 26, 1921, in Newborn, Tenn., the daughter of Robert and Mae Thomas Belle Lineberry. She was married on October 31, 1937, in Steele, Mo., to Arnold T. Howell, who preceded her in death on October 7, 1996. A resident of the Jefferson City area since 1958, Ruth was employed with the Missouri Dept. of Revenue for 17 years prior to her retirement on March 1, 1983. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Most importantly, Ruth loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her family always loved her dearly and all have a special story to tell about Grandma Ruth. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and decorating her home and always opened her home to friends and neighbors to come and visit. Survivors include: two sons, Jerry Howell and his wife Patty of Jefferson City, Mo., and Mike Howell and his wife Peggy of Jefferson City, Mo.; one daughter, Pat Jarrett and her husband Roger of Benton, Ky.; one sister, Tommie Sansone of Real Foot Lake, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Richard Allen Howell on February 20, 2004; one daughter, Ada Ann Howard on June 26, 2005; two sisters, Clydie Byrd and Mary McDougal; two brothers, J.T. Lineberry and Buck Lineberry; and one grandson, Keith Alan Rucker. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
