Douglas McAnaugh (Veteran)

Douglas Russell McAnaugh, 73, of Jefferson City, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at Jefferson City Manor Care. Douglas was born on July 26, 1936, in Sanford, Maine, the son of the late Russell and Ruth Lillian Bland McAnaugh. He was married on Aug. 11, 1967, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Irene Margaret Lyons Chervenak who survives at the home. Mr. McAnaugh was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era, serving 20 years as Jet Mechanic and Line Chief. He was awarded the Meritouous Service Medal for his tour of duty in Vietnam. He later worked for Motorola, Inc. and the U.S.D.A. in Phoenix, Arizona, and was a painting contractor. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was an avid bowler and golfer. Other survivors include three sons, Douglas McAnaugh Jr., Wichita, Kansas; Peter McAnaugh of the State of Texas; and Mark (Debra) McAnaugh, Bailey, Colorado; one daughter, Nancie (Stephen Hick) McAnaugh, Jefferson City; three grandchildren; one sister, Jean, Richland Center, Wisconsin; and one brother, Ronald McAnaugh, of the state of Florida. He was preceded in death by a son, John Donald McAnaugh. Private family services will be held at a later date.
