Darrell Chronister (Veteran)

Mr. Darrell Tinker Chronister, age 60 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, March 26, 2010, at his home. Tinker was born on October 26, 1949, in Ironton, Mo., the son of Darrell L. and Thelma Pauline Tinker Chronister. He was married on December 24, 1995, in Las Vegas, Nev., to Lois A. Holman, who survives at the home. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, he was a 1967 graduate of Jefferson City High School and attended Lincoln University. Tinker served as a Seabee in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed with Surplus Property in Jefferson City, TCI Cable in Jefferson City and California, and later with Mike Kehoe Ford until ill health forced his retirement in 1996. He was a past commander and life member of the American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5; a past skipper of the Navy Club Ship Five; a member of Voiture 1292 40&8; and always enjoyed volunteering with the special needs children's christmas party. Tinker was a very big NASCAR fan and a loyal supporter of Jeff Gordon. He was also an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. Survivors include: his wife, Lois Chronister of the home; two daughters, Stephanie Cardwell and her fiancE Keith Bias of Jefferson City, Mo. and Carly Butts and her fiancE Scott Hughes of Westphalia, Mo.; five grandchildren, Dylan Bias, Emma Bias, Mason Bias, Carson Butts, and Cade Butts; and his beloved dog, Peppy. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Gaila Lager. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 29, 2010, in the Freeman Chapel with Chaplain Jeremy Caudel officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be immediately before the service at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. Monday.
