Dwight G. Jones, 90, of Eldon, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Villa Marie Nursing Home in Jefferson City. The son of the late Frank Jones Jr. and Opal (Goodman) Jones was born on May 24, 1919, in Barnett. On June 5, 1938, he was married, in California, to Helen E. (Routon) Jones, who survives of the home. He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws: Wayne Jones and Rita of Lake Ozark, and Gail and Nancy Jones of Jefferson City; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Eldon, and his great-grandfather was the first elder. He was a farmer and a cattleman and a member of the National Farmers Organization. He also drove a school bus for Eldon schools for 20 years. He loved bluegrass music, the St. Louis Cardinals, wintering in Arizona and playing cards. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon and from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officating Rev. Shirley Williams and Rev. Walter Simpson. Interment will follow at Greenmore Memorial Gardens in Barnett. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Dwight are suggested to the First Christian Church of Eldon building fund or to donor's choice.
