Jerry Dean Beck, 68, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born November 8, 1941, in Jefferson City, a son of the late Oscar and Viola (Behrens) Beck. He was a 1959 graduate of Jefferson City High School, and went on to attend Lincoln University. On May 10, 1974, Jerry was united in marriage in Jefferson City, to Carolyn Sue Maples, who survives at their home. Jerry was a mechanic, and had worked for O'Reilly Automotive. He previously worked as an installer for United Telephone and worked for Walker Cable Splicing Company. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, where he was a jet engine mechanic. Jerry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed tinkering with small engines and motors, and also enjoyed hanging out with his dog "Mitch". He is also survived by a son: Kevin Beck of St. Louis; a daughter: Susan Beck (fiancÈ Mark Mills) of Jefferson City; one brother: Allen Beck (wife Kay) of Jefferson City; one grandson: Joshua Barnum of Jefferson City; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Murl Nash officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Joshua Barnum Educational Fund.
