Wanda Lee Simmons, age 82, of Ozark, Mo., died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at the Baptist Home of Ozark, Mo. Wanda was born September 29, 1927, in Moberly, Mo., the daughter of Trevy and Violet Fern Simmons. She accepted Christ and was baptized at the Carpenter Street Baptist Church in Moberly. She attended Southwest Baptist College (now University) and worked at the Missouri Baptist Convention from 1953 to 1990, retiring after over 36 years of ministry. She has been a member of First Baptist Church since 1953, where she has served in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, church choir and senior adult choir (Friendship Singers). She also volunteered at Meals on Wheels and The Samaritan Center. She is survived by a brother, William Simmons, several nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, Missouri, Friday, March 19, at 10:00 a.m., with Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Moberly, Mo., at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 19. A memorial service will be held at The Baptist Home, Ozark, Mo., at a later time. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Music Ministry, First Baptist Church, Jefferson City, Mo. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Springfield Mortuary Service, Springfield, Mo.
