Gladys DuBus

Gladys N. DuBus, age 94, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Mrs. DuBus was born at the family home near Otwell, Arkansas, to Oscar and Hazel Bulla on December 7, 1915. She graduated from Valley View High School. She married Joe DuBus and they lived in Northeast Arkansas for many years. Gladys retired from Arkansas State University several years ago and also worked as Cafeteria Manager at South School in the Jonesboro Schools. She is survived by her brother: Roy Bulla (Mary) of Ozark, Arkansas; sister-in-law: Mrs. Dorothy Bulla Burger of Heber Springs, Arkansas; two sons: James DuBus (Madean) of Pittsburg, Texas, and Joe R. DuBus (Ruth) of Jefferson City; four grandchildren; Ken DuBus of Pittsburg, Texas, Stephanie (Burt) Ruiz of Jefferson City, Lyle (Lisa) DuBus of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Andrea DuBus of Paragould, Arkansas; three great-grandchildren: John Bledsoe and Skyler Vaught of Jefferson City, and Jade DuBus of Paragould, Arkansas. Mrs. Lina Jane Kimbrell Strickland of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is a special family friend. Mrs. DuBus was proceeded in death by her parents; husband; and several brothers and sisters including: Irene Wilkins (Nolan), Fern Mills (Rommie), Grace Perkinson, Mary Farley (Joe), Edith Borden, Gene Bulla (Wanda), Jim Bulla, and Lee who died in infancy. Gladys was a member of the First Christian Church of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and was a foods judge and contributor to the Craighead County Fair and published cookbooks for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at the Langford-Bookout Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on Saturday, March 20, at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Jerry Wilcox officiating. Burial will be at the Jonesboro Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, March 19, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Langford-Bookout Funeral Home. Pall Bearers will be nephews: Rommie Mills and David Wilkins; grandsons; Ken DuBus, Lyle DuBus, John Bledsoe, and Burt Ruiz. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the First Christian Church Building Fund, Flo and Burt Jones Hospice, or the Friends of the Craighead County Library.
