Donna Backer

Donna Rae Backer, 78, of Fulton, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010, at Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City. She was born Feb. 24, 1932, in Collinsville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Donald Meng and Esther Augusta (Oetting) Waggoner. She married Forrest Backer on June 17, 1956, in Fulton. Donna had taught school in rural Callaway County. She was a member of Prairie Chapel Methodist Church and helped with the music as a pianist. She was a member of the Fulton Garden Club and the Central Co-workers Extension Club. Along with her love for flowers, Donna had also enjoyed painting in oils. She is survived by her husband, Forrest of 54 years; one daughter, Laney McCurren Clemens and her husband John of Jefferson City; one brother, James Waggoner of Jefferson City; and three grandchildren, Matthias McCurren, Forrest McCurren, and Quinn McCurren. She was preceded in death by one brother, John Donald Waggoner. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 18, at the Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Rev. Jim Day officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Hill Cemetery in Holts Summit. Family will receive friends on Wed. evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
