Marcelene Gooden

Mrs. Marcelene Gooden, age 82, of New Bloomfield, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010, in Alexandria, Louisiana. Marcelene was visiting her great-grandchildren at the time of her death. Marcelene was born July 5, 1927, in Belle, the daughter of Arvel M. and Dolly Thompson (both deceased). She was married on December 29, 1947, in Belle, to Robert Junior Gooden also of Belle, who preceded her in death in 1989. She went to school in Belle. She also graduated from LPN school in Jefferson City. She enjoyed growing flowers, cooking and baking, decorating cakes, visiting with friends and wearing hats. She was a member of the Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ. She is survived by four children: Deborah Gooden of Pine River, North Dakota, Monica Hoeper of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Pamela Brodsky of Jefferson City, and Robert E. Gooden of Alexandria, Louisiana; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at the Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ . Burial was Tuesday, March 2, at the Springhill Cemetery, in Ball, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Fairgrounds Church of Christ building fund.
