Robert "Bob" Clarkson, age 85, of Laclede, died Saturday, February 27, 2010, at McLarney Manor in Brookfield. Robert I., son of Robert Oliver and Theresa (Watson) Clarkson, was born December 25, 1924, in Brookfield. On October 27, 1946, he married Doris Clinefelter. Mr. Clarkson was a graduate of Forker High School. He was a farmer and had retired from Burlington Northern Railroad where he had worked as an Engineer. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Laclede. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was a member of American Legion Post #197 in Laclede. He was a Mason and member of Jackson Lodge #82 AF & AM in Linneus. He was also a member of the Linn County Tractor and Small Engine Club. Survivors include his wife, Doris, of the home; four sons, Robert Clarkson and Peggy Wilson of Elwood, Indiana, Dave Clarkson and wife Sandra of Laclede, Randy Clarkson and wife Rita of Jefferson City, and Rock Clarkson and Erin Maloney of Jefferson City; one daughter, Diane Lambert and husband Steve of Brookfield; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathryn Grkovich of Chicago, Illinois, and Edna Mae Farmer of Centralia. His parents; his stepmother, Bessie A. Clarkson; one grandson, Alex Clarkson; and two brothers-in-law preceded him in death. A funeral service will be held today, Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Laclede United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Fine officiating. Burial will be in the Laclede Cemetery.
