Mr. Harold D. Turner, age 86 years, of Tebbetts, Mo., died Wednesday, June 30, 2010. He was born October 2, 1923, in Tebbetts, Mo., the son of Elmer W. and Leona E. Huebler Turner. He was married on March 9, 1946, in Fulton, Mo. to Becky Hord, who preceded him in death on November 4, 2005. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Harold attended Jefferson City Public Schools where he played on the Jay Football Team. As a young man, he enjoyed playing baseball and was the catcher for the Tebbetts Baseball Team. He served in the United States Army during World War II in Germany. An avid truck driver, he was co-owner of Turner Brothers Enterprises for over 50 years and later owned Harold Turner Farm, L.L.C. He was a member of the Tebbetts United Methodist Church in Tebbetts. Harold was a lifelong Jay Football Booster and rarely missed a game. Survivors include: two sons, B. Kent Turner and his friend Shane Gasser of San Diego, Calif., and Sam Turner and his wife Kelli of Montgomery City, Mo.; two daughters, Jackie Rose and her husband Rich of Jefferson City, Mo., and Jan Fabick of Hermann, Mo.; five grandchildren, Chris, Cory, Tyler, Casey, Austin, and Dakota; three great- grandchildren, Tayler, Caleb, and Logan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother, Chester R. Turner. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 3, 2010, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Brandon Stephens officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at the Riverview Cemetery near Tebbetts, Mo. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Tebbetts United Methodist Church or the Riverview Cemetery Assn.
