Mr. Duane Gordon Rosser, age 91 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, June 24, 2010, at the Westphalia Hills Nursing Center. He was born December 30, 1918, in McArthur, Ohio, the son of James Edgar and Gladys Snook Rosser. He was married on October 4, 1942, in West Unity, Ohio to Ruth Eleanor Arnold. He graduated from Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio with a degree in pharmacy. Duane was a Pharmacist Mate in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre from 1942 until 1945. He was a resident of the Lexington, Kentucky area from 1948 until 2005. Duane was a Pharmacist for Hart Drug Store in Evansville, Indiana from 1946 until 1948, then became the manager and pharmacist at the Hart Drug Store near the corner of Main and Lime St. from 1948 until 1980. He then worked for Begley's and Rite Aid companies until 1999. He was a Meals on Wheels coordinator and driver until 2005. Survivors include: his wife of 68 years, Eleanor; one son, Jim Rosser and his wife Zelma King of Red Valley, Arizona; one daughter, Marilyn Hofmann and her husband Jim of Jefferson City, Mo..; four grandchildren, Tasha Blackburn and her husband Philip, Daren Hofmann and his wife Sarah, Ezra Rosser and his wife Elvia, and Saul Rosser; and four great-grandchildren, Calum and Alena Blackburn, James Hofmann, and Mateo Rosser Castro. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Rachel Rosser. A service of thanksgiving for his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the Southern Hills United Methodist Church in Lexington, Kentucky, with a visitation from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City or the American Cancer Society.
