Randall G. "Randy" Schaefer, age 55, of Frankenstein, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 4, 1955, in Jefferson City, a son to the late Wilbert G. "Buck" and Darleen (Pointer) Schaefer who survives in Linn. On August 5, 1978, he was united in marriage to Margaret A. Haslag in Frankenstein. She resides at their home in Frankenstein. Randy was employed by Carl Rhoads for several years helping with farm chores. He worked briefly for Kever Foundation before starting work at Quality Wholesalers in Jefferson City. This distributorship was purchased by Fechtel Beverage and Sales, Inc., whom he had worked for since June 1, 1987. He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Randy was an active community member holding positions on the Parish Council, School Board and Park Board. He was instrumental in the building of the Community Ball Park. He was an active member of the Bonnots Mill Knights of Columbus Council No. 2027 and the Linn Lions Club. In addition to his wife and mother, Randy is survived by: two sons, Travis and his wife Julie Schaefer of Wardsville, Cole Schaefer and his fiancÈe Jessica Braun of Taos; two daughters, Megan Russell and her husband Craig of Linn, Abby Schaefer of the home and her friend Rob Shafer of Linn; five grandchildren, Ethan Russell, Morgan Schaefer, Braden Schaefer, Ali Russell, and Lane Schaefer; three sisters, Vicky Helmig and her husband Dick of Hawthorne, Fla., Debbie Shockley and her husband Jerry of Taos, and Charlotte Belser and her husband Aaron of Spanaway, Wash.; mother-in-law, Augusta Haslag of Frankenstein, as well as many other family members and friends. In addition to his father, Randy was preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Samantha S. Schaefer; and his father-in-law, Sylvester F. Haslag. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Frankenstein. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Frankenstein with Fr. I.C. Medina as the celebrant. Interment will follow at the Garden of Gethsemane Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Our Lady Help of Christians Church, the American Cancer Society, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
