Rev. J.W. "Dubb" Hall, 83, Holts Summit, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City. He was born March 10, 1927, in Green Hill, Ala., a son of the late Gilbert and Myrtle (Hannah) Hall. On June 13, 1945, he was united in marriage in Lilbourn, Mo. to Helen Lucille Norton, who survives at their home. He was from a family of 12 children, and his family moved to Southeast Missouri when he was very young. He attended schools in Southeast Missouri, and attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, where he graduated in 1961. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a Medic during World War II. He was pastor at churches in Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Quenemo, Kan.; Portland, Mo.; Mexico, Mo.; and Hopewell Baptist Church in New Bloomfield, Mo. He also worked as an auto mechanic, and worked for the United States Postal Service. J.W. has been an active member of Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City for several years. Survivors include: one son, Larry D. Hall (wife Pat) of Fulton; a daughter, Kathy E. Hyder (husband Rob), of Jefferson City; two brothers, Willis Hall (wife Annette) of Lounds, Mo. and Roger Hall (wife Phyllis) of Dupo, Ill., three sisters, Veda Amsden (husband Hubert) of Dupo, Ill.; Betty Sue Morgan (husband Ron) of Wasilla, Ala. and Eliese "Sissy" Brannam (husband Allen) of Columbia, Ill.; five grandchildren, Donnie Hall (wife Deana) of Mokane, Shawn Wetherell (husband Gary) of Fulton, Jenna Hall of Milwaukee, Wis., Lisa Wall (husband Myche) of Virginia Beach, Va. and Daria Hall of Washington D.C.; eight great-grandchildren, Heather Hall, Caleb Hall, Amanda Hall, Derek Dixon, Jennifer Dixon, Alexis Wetherell, Tyler Wetherell, Kelsey Wetherell; one great-great-grandchild, Jacob Huddleston; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Stanley Hall; his parents; three brothers, James, Olan and Glen; and three sisters, Selma, Lois and Virginia. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. today, at Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2010, at Concord Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in New Bloomfield. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City or Hopewell Baptist Church in New Bloomfield.
