Agnes Frances Kempker, 97, of Jefferson City, died Friday June 18, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born September 13, 1912, in Mary's Home, the daughter of Henry Hake and Lucy (Frank) Hake. She attended school in Mary's Home and Meta. Agnes was united in marriage to Herman Kempker, who preceded her in death on October 2, 1978. Agnes was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in Folk prior to moving to Jefferson City in the early 1970's. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and St. Ann's Sodality. She loved playing bingo, quilting and working in her flower garden. She especially enjoyed spending time with her large family. She is survived by one daughter: Laurentia (Arnold) Wenzel of Jefferson City; six sons: Alfred Kempker (Janice), Lloyd Kempker, Floyd "Jack" Kempker (Helen), Herman Kempker Jr. (Marilyn), Leonard Kempker (Marilyn), and Lester Kempker (Rita), all of Jefferson City; 41 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lucy Hake; step-mother, Lena Hake; one son, Anthony Kempker and wife Lorine; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Kempker; two brothers, Richard and Clyde Hake; one half-brother, Raymond Hake; one half-sister, Mary Louise Rotter; one step-brother, Lawrence Hake; two step- sisters, Leona Seamon and Elizabeth Handing; one grand-daughter, one great-grand-daughter, and one great-great-grandson. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 21, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at the St Peters Catholic Church, with Fr. Basil Euro officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Peters Catholic Church.
