George J. Klamet, 93, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo., with his loving family and special buddy, Richard Clarkston, at his side. George was born on February 2, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was united in marriage on February 2, 1946, (so he wouldn't forget the date) to Helene (Cifranic), who preceded him in death on October 29, 2009. George was a decorated World War II U.S. Army Veteran of the Pacific Campaign. He retired from the Nickel Plate (Norfolk and Western) Railroad in 1976. He was an avid reader, artist and handyman. He was a quiet, loving, gentleman who never complained. Survivors include: one son, Dr. Terry Klamet (Kristi) Jefferson City, Mo.; three daughters, Sue Harwood (Jeffrey) Orlando, Fla., Kathy Klamet and Donna Klamet, Cleveland, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Ashley (Jamie Morris) Klamet, Ryan Harwood, and Sean (Shannon) Harwood. May his legacy live on in his children and grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday, June 20, 2010, from 3:00-8:30 p.m. at A. Ripepi and Sons Funeral Home, 18149 Bagley Road, Middleburg Heights, OH 44130. (440) 260-8800. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 21, 2010, at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church. Private interment with full military honors will be held at a later date at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
