Emma Catherine Rackers, 84, of Taos, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Manor Care in Springfield, Mo. She was born on August 27, 1925, in Freeburg, Mo., the daughter of the late Henry and Agnes Bauer Brendel. Emma attended the Holy Family Catholic School in Freeburg, Mo. She was united in marriage on May 7, 1949, in Jefferson City, to Herbert William Rackers, who preceded her in death on November 24, 2009. Emma was an audit clerk for the Missouri Department of Revenue for over 25 years retiring on December 31, 1990. In her earlier years Emma worked for Montgomery Ward as a Department Manager. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, and St. Ann's Sewing Circle. Other survivors include: two daughters, Diane Johnson, Springfield, Mo., and Darlene (Robert) Pesek, Overland Park, Kan.; six grandchildren, John Pesek, Emily Pesek, Mark Pesek, Andrew Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, and Elizabeth Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Reece, Rylan Pesek; two sisters, Rose Strano and Ida Lynn; and one brother, Herman Brendel. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Regina Rothove, Gertrude Bexten, and Una Brendel; and four brothers, Theodore Brendel, Leo Brendel, Ernest Brendel, and Adolph Brendel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon, Saturday, June 19, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Wayne M. Boyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday at the church. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
