Alfred A. Ehrhardt, age 79, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, July 29, 2010, at his home. He was born December 8, 1930, near Jefferson City, a son of Oscar and Erna Fischer Ehrhardt. On May 24, 1953, Alfred was united in marriage to Dorothy Engelbrecht at Immanuel Lutheran Church-Honey Creek. Dorothy survives at their home. Alfred served his country in the Army National Guard Reserves for nine years. He began his career at Exchange National Bank in Jefferson City as a collector. He retired in 1993, after almost 43 years of employment as Vice-President of bookkeeping and an auditor. Since 1955 to present he raised Registered Angus cattle. He thorughly enjoyed the time he could spend working on his farm. He served on the Public Water Supply District #1 Board for 25 years and on the Zion Cemetery Board until it was dissolved. For the past several years Alfred enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his granddaughter. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and was a longtime, faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Sandy Ehrhardt of Jefferson City; one sister, Clara Hansen of Columbia; his granddaughter, Georgia Ehrhardt; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Henry Lyman Ehrhardt. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 2, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City with Rev. Russ Bowder officiating. Interment will be in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 1, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Calvary Lutheran High School.
