George Rush (Veteran)

George E. Rush, age 80, of Independence, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010. George was born March 17, 1930 in Kansas City, Mo. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in Korea as a member of a UDT - Underwater Demolition Team - the forerunner to today's Navy Seals. He was a millwright at the Lake City Ammunitions Plant for 27 years and retired in 1988. He was a member of the church. George enjoyed weightlifting, motorcycles, water skiing and float trips. He was a hard worker who was always willing to help people. He is survived by son, Mitch Rush and wife Peggy; daughter, Christi Rush; son, Keith Rush and wife Kari, all of Independence; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. George was preceded in death by his wife, L'Wana Jo Rush, and brother, Bob Rush. Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 2010 at East Independence Church of Christ, 2020 S. M 291, Independence, Mo., followed by graveside services with full military honors at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Russellville, Mo. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church.
