Harold Clennin

Harold D. Clennin, 75, of California, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at his residence. He was born on November 10, 1934, on the family farm near California, the son of Nicholas W. and Trella (Bolin) Clennin, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on October 10, 1969, at Main Street Baptist Church, California, to Ruth D. Flippin, who preceded him in death on June 18, 2004. He was a member of California United Church of Christ, where he had served as a past member of the Consistory, member of the Men's Brotherhood, and the Recording Secretary for the Sunday School. He was owner of Clennin's Meats for many years, and worked all of his life in the meat processing business. He was a member of the Missouri Meat Processing Association and the Missouri Pork Producers. He showed hogs (Chester Whites) for over 50 years at many county and state fairs. Harold won awards for hams at the Missouri State Fair many times, and showed bacon and hams at many state and county fairs. He ran the concession stand at the Moniteau County Fair for over 40 years; he also ran the concession stand at Double XX Speedway in California. Harold was a caterer for over 20 years. He sponsored bowling, slow and fast-pitch softball teams, and also helped with the 4-H for many years. Harold enjoyed racing cars when he was younger. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and had season tickets to University of Missouri men's basketball games for over 30 years. Survivors include: one daughter, Carla Kay Clennin of California; one brother, Paul (Mary Ann) Clennin of California; one nephew, Russell (Tracy) Clennin of California; two great-nieces, Morgan and Kalie Clennin of California; one sister-in-law, Shirley (Paul) Camden of Salem; cousins, Gary and Jerry Wells of California; one nephew, Paul (Tina) Camden Jr. of Salem; great-nephews Klay (Shauna) Camden of Columbia and Dustin Camden of Salem; niece, Terrie (Chris) Welch; great-nephew, Joey Camden and great-niece, Kayla Welch. Visitation will be today from 5:00 p.m. n 8:00 p.m. at California United Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 23, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Rohrbach Cemetery north of California. Officiating will be Rev. Jeffery Hammonds and Rev. Collette Jones.
