Paul E. McKee, 70, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Monday July 12, 2010, at his residence. He was born May 6, 1940, in Hartshorn, Missouri, son of Russell and Thelma (Barton) McKee. He attended high school in Summerville, Mo. where he graduated as his class valedictorian. He went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering at the Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, Mo. On September 10, 1960, he was united in marriage to Norris (Cashatt) McKee who survives at the home. Paul worked at MODOT as a Civil Engineer in the Highway Department from 1964 until 1994. He was a past member of the Cole County Volunteer Fire Department and the Cole County Emergency Medical First Responders Squad. Over the years he's been a member of First Assembly of God Church and Solid Rock Family Church. He was a member of the Mended Hearts Group at St. Mary's Health Center and volunteered at the Special Learning Center. Paul was a master wood craftsman, where he used his craft to make special therapy toys for disabled children. He was also active with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, woodworking and electronics. He built his first computer in the 70's and taught himself Basic programming at MODOT where they purchased some of their first software from a little known company called Microsoft. He is also survived by his mother, Thelma McKee of Summersville, Mo.; four children, Rachel McKee, Jefferson City, Glenda McKee, Jefferson City, Edith McKee, Stanton, Mo. and Philip McKee (Sarah), Jefferson City; two sisters, Betty Bennett (Tony), Jefferson City; Judy Talley (Ron), Wright City, Mo.; one brother, Steve McKee (Michelle), Summersville, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Matt, Andre', Stephanie, Mariah, Andrew, Arielle and Chris. Friends will be received from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at First Assembly of God Church, where funeral services will be held at 6:00 with Rev. Lowell Perkins and Rev. Joe Skiles officiating. An additional visitation will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m at Midvale Pentecostal Holiness Church, (Hwy 17 at Hwy. W, near Summersville, Mo.), where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with the Bradford family officiating. Interment will follow at the Midvale Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Assembly of God Church building fund or the Special Learning Center.
