Adeta Arlene Thoenen, 62, of Holts Summit, died on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at her residence. She was born on January 1, 1948, in Chillicothe, Mo., a daughter of the late Howard Eldon and Olive Brown Atkins. On March 2, 1992, Adeta was united in marriage to Mike Thoenen, who survives at the home. Adeta was a 1966 graduate of Chillicothe High School. She retired from the Missouri Department of Social Services as a Medical Technician assisting hospice families. She enjoyed auctions, reading, gardening, visiting with her neighbors and children. She especially loved spending time with her husband, Mike. She is also survived by one sister: Dorlene Meneely and her husband David of Chillicothe; one step-brother: Carl Shipp Jr. and his wife Jeanette of Chillicothe; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Adeta was preceded in death by her son: Bradley McNally and her step-father: Carl Shipp Sr. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Murl Nash officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice of the donors choice or to an outdoor memorial in memory of Adeta.
