Shirley J. DeWesplore, 77, of New Bloomfield, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 22, 2010, at her home. She was born July 18, 1932, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, a daughter of the late Leonard and Anna Mae (Haynes) Hutchinson. She attended high school in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She was married on March 3, 1950, to Jean D. McKim, who preceded her in death on May 28, 1974. On June 5, 1976, she was united in marriage to John Clark DeWesplore, who preceded her in death on January 27, 2000. Shirley worked for the Missouri Department of Social Services in Budget and Finance for many years, until her retirement in 1989. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, ceramics, flowers, gardening, cooking, crossword puzzles, and taking care of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two sons: Matthew McKim (wife Joan) of Loose Creek; Sam McKim of Holts Summit; one daughter: Lois Nagel (husband James) of New Bloomfield; one step-sister: Rosalie Webb of the State of Washington; three step-brothers: Delbert Slay, David Slay and Chuck Slay, all of the State of Oregon; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jean David McKim Jr. on January 2, 2003; two sisters, and two brothers. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Rev. Murl Nash officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
