Mr. Earl E. Hoskins Jr., age 75 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at St. Mary's Health Center. Earl was born November 17, 1934 in Cole County, Mo., the son of Earl E. Sr. and Leora M. Sappenfield Hoskins. He was married on September 13, 1954, in Elston, Mo., to Allene Hackney, who survives at the home. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Earl graduated from Eugene High School, Eugene, Mo., and Midwestern Seminary in Kansas City, Mo. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Earl was employed with the Missouri Highway Dept. for 40 years retiring as a statistician in 1997. He was also a Baptist minister for many years serving numerous churches in the area. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church, the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5, and had numerous hobbies. Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Allene; one son, David Hoskins and his wife Pam of Jefferson City, Mo.; two daughters, Barbara Heller and her husband Bill of Jefferson City, Mo. and Keri Wolters and her husband Rick of Holts Summit, Mo.; three brothers, Wilburn Hoskins and his wife Sue of Henley, Mo., Tom Hoskins and his wife Mickey of Henley, Mo., and Robert Hoskins and his wife Lou Ann of Eldon, Mo.; four grandchildren, Michael Heller and his wife Cherita, Aaron Heller and his wife Kate, Justin Wolters, and Jordan Wolters; and two great-grandchildren, Cole Heller and Drew Heller. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Juanita Kirchner. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Concord Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Monte Shinkle and the Reverend Dr. Paul Branstetter officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Concord Baptist Church from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday.
