Donald Wood Furlong, 77, of Mokane, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010, at his home. He was born May 27, 1932, in Mokane, the son of Steve A. and Mary M. (Wood) Furlong. On August 30, 1952, he was united in marriage to Wilma J. (Adair) Furlong, who survives at their home. Donald was a farmer and also worked at the Callaway Nuclear Plant until he retired as a construction worker. Donald and his wife enjoyed traveling, fishing and selling fireworks in Mokane after his retirement. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three daughters, Joyce Vaught and her husband David, of Holts Summit, Brenda Garrison and her husband Harold, of Mokane, and Mamie Kirk and her husband Jeff, of Holts Summit; two sons, Harold Furlong of Holts Summit and Timmy Furlong of Mokane; one sister, Ruby Leaton of Fayette; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. His parents, one son - Austin Wood Furlong, four brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Interment will be held in the Mokane Cemetery. Condolences may also be sent to the family at maupinfuneralhome.com
