Herbert "Herbie" Tappehorn, 75, of St. Elizabeth, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. He was born April 6, 1934, son of Herman Joseph and Leona (Beschienen) Boessen Tappehorn. He served in the United States Army attaining the rank of SP 3 during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at General Motors in St. Louis until his retirement in 1988. Herbert was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He is survived by one sister, Martha Bax of St. Elizabeth; one half-sister, Ludmilla A. Boessen Twehus of Jefferson City; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William Tappehorn; one half-brother, Leonard Boessen; and one half-sister, Livinia Boessen. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Daniel Lueckenotte will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.
